About Buddhism

”Help others. If you cannot help them, at least do not harm others”. Buddhism is essentially a process of transforming the mind from negative to positive.

About Vesak

Vesak is regarded by all Buddhist traditions as the anniversary of the birth of the Buddha. Some traditions regard it as a commemoration of the enlightenment and passing of the Buddha.

Our Vision

Gentle Beginnings

Over a decade ago, an idea was born to unite the Buddhist community of Victoria, to commemorate the day of Vesak. Surrounded by the timber clad walls of the Springvale Town Hall, the first Victorian celebration of the United Nations of Vesak began. Soon after, the ever-expanding Buddhist community of Victoria provided a greater offering to the Dhamma.

This offering came in the form of community, effort and insurmountable dedication. With flowers in hand and Dhana at the ready, hundreds of Victorians gathered at the heart of Melbourne. This awe-inspiring support flourished the culmination of Victorian United Nations Day of Vesak celebrated annually at the Melbourne Town Hall. A decade past, we continue to join alongside thousands of Victorians to share in the merits of Vesak. From a gentle beginning, we have grown to be a little wiser, a little larger, but more connected to our community than ever before.

Since 2008, We have been celebrating the United Nations Day of Vesak in the heart of Melbourne alongside our diverse Victorian Buddhist community.
